Top Argentine stayer Lingote de Oro (Arg) (Orpen-Laika, by Old Treiste) has been retired from racing, according to Nicolas Martin Ferro, manager of Carlos Felice’s Keyser Soze Stable. “He suffered a minor injury in his right front ankle, which will sideline him for at least three months”, said Ferro. “The decision was made to retire the horse since he will miss the many of Palermo’s most important races during the firt part of the season”. He added, “Carlos had been thinking about retiring him in July anyway”. Bred by Haras La Providencia and trained by Ernesto Romero, the dark bay won nine of 23 career starts, including the GI Estrellas Classic, GI Republica Argentina and GI Gran Premio de Honor. Hea lso scored in the G2 Gran Premio Comparacion and Listed Clasico Haras Argentinos. Stud plans for the six-year-old have not been finalized. “We are in discussion with a few very importan farms at the moment”, added Ferro. “He will go to the breeding shed in August.”
